Nature and Culture is a series of 49 two-sided drawings on self-made translucent paper. Each drawing is 18”x 18” and presents an animal portrait on one side, and an object of material culture on the other side, with the exception of one drawing with images of a hand on both sides. The drawings are designed to be displayed on a metal grid, hanging in open space, and viewable from both sides. The crucial element of such an installation is light, which depending on its position and intensity, either reveals or hides the drawing on the reverse side.
